Hi Folks!
So here is my thought.... ok not my ONLY thought, but my thought on how we (you as teacher librarians) could possibly consider getting your teachers, and in turn your students, to blog!
One of our primary modes of communication is via the FirstClass Conferences made available to us. While this particular medium has proven highly effective in a number of curriculum/specialty areas (drama teachers have a conference... teacher librarians have a conference, etc), the "skill" of using a conference amongst colleagues is not really a "skill" that we could transfer to the classroom. But BLOGGING could be!
So here is my thought/idea/suggestion....
How's about we (by "we" I mean Teacher Librarians), try using a blog to perhaps express our thoughts, ideas, opinions, etc. By actually "using" the blog (commenting on a "post" or whatever else one can do with a blog), maybe it is something we could "get the hang of" enough to present it to our staffs and subsequently along to our individual classes. I know that some of you are "bloggers" already.... and I hope you will contribute, however, for those of you who have yet to blog, maybe this could be a starting point??? I am not a regular blogger, but I will certainly give it a try and support you guys in your "trying" as well!!
All for now,
Ian
